Rising Star brings Nashville flavour to Danny Boy Jazz & Blues
John Francis O’Meagher is a Nashville and Philadelphia based singer-songwriter / recording artist kicking off the opening event at this years Danny Boy jazz & Blues festival in support of Rackhouse Pilfer. He has released two critically-acclaimed full-length records, ‘The Better Angels’, ‘Strong Wine & Spirits’, and 1 EP; ‘The Philadelphia EP’. ‘The Better Angels’ was produced in fabled home studio of Johnny Cash, by his son John Carter Cash, featuring members of Johnny’s band. JF is now wrapping up his forthcoming album, in Nashville again, produced by Academy Award winning producer, and original Wilco / Uncle Tupelo drummer, Ken Coomer.
JF is the recipient of two national songwriting awards from ASCAP (Lyricist of the Year in 2007, Socially Conscious Songwriter of the Year in 2011), and is the founder of ‘The City of Love Festival’, a Philadelphia music event featuring regional and national bands, benefiting impoverished Philadelphians.
Francis tours extensively in the US, Canada, and Western Europe, has performed with Loretta Lynn, Wilco, Kris Kristofferson, George Jones, Suzanne Vega, Amos Lee, Josh Ritter, Ray Lamontagne, Steve Earle, Sinead O’Connor, and he performed upon invitation for the United Nations Summit for the Eradication of Extreme Poverty in 2008.
