Maeve Dunphy – “..a very talented girl!”
Maeve’s performances throughout Ireland have not gone unnoticed and she has shared the stage with artists such as Eddi Reader, Paddy Casey, Declan O’Rourke, Roesy, Don Baker, Ronnie Drew, Finbar Furey, Maria Muldaur, Dave Alvin and Rodrigo y Gabriela.
She has been accompanied on many of those performances by a band of seasoned session musicians: Jerome McGlynn on guitar, Michael McGinty on double bass Aidan Dunphy. They are joined on the album by Seany McCarron on sax and Niall Moore on trumpet.
Maeve’s mastery of style may be no surprise to her audience but will delight those who to whom she is a new and welcome voice. Maeve’s songs are a mixture of innocence and experience, yearning and resignation showing her own particular ability to add an edge to the everyday. She can sing an old-style blues in a way that is as fresh as paint, stoke up guitar-led salsa rhythms and linger over every nuance of a folk tune.
She has recently teamed up with guitarist Arty McGlynn, and his jazz band, the “Grooveyard Shift” ( all Omagh natives), to record an EP, the title track of which is called “Don’t Wait Up For Me”, Maeve’s latest original song. The EP release will be followed by a number of Irish dates with her band.
The EP “Don’t Wait Up For Me” and Maeve’s debut album “Scarlet” are available on Amazon, Itunes, and CD baby.
“She’s the real deal, I tell ya”
Maria Muldour
“Maeve is definitely one of the most interesting of all the songwriters on the Irish scene for the last few years, the great thing about her is that she knows how to play guitar properly! I’d love to rob at least three of Maeve’s songs for myself.”
Paddy Casey, multi-platinum singer-songwriter
‘Maeve Dunphy is a very talented girl. Great singer, great songwriter, great guitar player and it’s all there on her new album Scarlet. Get it, you’ll like it!’
Arty McGlynn
And that’s the truth !!
