Jazz Picnic ft. Martello Jazz Band
Fun for all the family at the Jazz Picnic in the grounds of the L.C.D.I. (Roe Valley Hospital) – Saturday from 2pm.
Truly an event for all the family as there are bouncy castles, slides, face painting, food and drinks and of course, excellent music and atmosphere.
The music this year will be provided by The Martello Jazz Band, which was formed in the autumn of 1985 by a group of enthusiastic musicians who had played previously in other bands.
Firm local favourites at the festival, these guys have played at a high standard all over Europe, and will be providing the sweet sounds at the LCDI Family Jazz Picnic…what a treat !
Their aim was to produce a sound reminiscent of the Dixieland bands which were commonplace in the New Orleans of the 1920’s and 1930’s, but also to stamp on it their own brand of drive and flair.
The resulting music is fresh and full of vitality, while still retaining the traditional flavour. This recipe has been successful in introducing a wide range of audiences to this form of music, even those who previously did not consider jazz to be to their taste!
Bring along your fully stocked goodie baskets and enjoy all the Family Jazz Picnic has to offer in the beautiful grounds of this historic building.
